Buzzing Success: 2023 Recap
Hello Hive Friends and Family,
This year has been a journey of connection and expansion for our team! From the bustling streets of Flatbush, Brooklyn to the welcoming neighborhoods of New Jersey and the picturesque landscapes of the Connecticut waterfront, our work has woven us into new diverse communities. We're grateful for the warmth and hospitality we've encountered. The connections made, lessons learned, and the sense of community embraced have been invaluable.
To our partners and clients: Your trust and collaboration have been the cornerstone of our achievements. Your support has fueled our creativity, innovation, and growth. I'm immensely grateful for each and every one of you who has been a part of our story this year.
Reflecting on a year of creativity, collaboration, and meaningful connections. Here are some incredible highlights that shaped our journey in 2023, creating memories that will last a lifetime:
Flatbush Nostrand Business Improvement District
Hive Public Space x Humble
“Raindrops” has been co-created with the participation of local volunteers. It showcases the endless possibilities of color combinations and reflects on the diversity of the Flatbush Nostrand community. It will enhance the plaza as a beautiful and exciting place for the community that includes, residents, students and shoppers to meet, socialize, play, and relax.
New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection
Engagement and Phased Development
This project covers 9 miles of property from Jersey City to Montclair along a former rail line to create the state’s first new state park since 2006. The project aims to convert an abandoned right of way into a thriving recreational, ecological, and transportation corridor traversing two of the most densely populated Counties in New Jersey (and in the nation).

Inaugural Leaders USA 2023
A journey that started with casting my first vote for then-Senator Barack Obama in 2008 to unforgettable moments in Chicago to be part of the Obama Foundation’s Leaders USA Summit, the Democracy Forum, and the 15th anniversary of President Obama’s historic election. But the true magic lies in my incredible cohort of (100) change agents from across the country. I’m more energized and committed to continuing this vital work with an amazing community by my side
As part of the Local Center initiative supported by Urban Design Forum and the Association for Neighborhood & Housing Development, we teamed up with Studio För to provide services to Queens-based non-profit Chhaya CDC, to develop a community vision for Lt. Frank McConnell Park in Richmond Hill as a public gathering space. This collaboration is working to cultivate agency of community members, create a secular gathering space for community engagement and organizing, celebrate and showcase the cultures and heritage of Richmond Hill, build resident engagement to preserve culture in public space long term and connect community members to services and other resources
Transforming 60+ acres of inaccessible riverfront land into a new community park, including a regional trail extension, and complementary commercial development right on the Hartford-Windsor line.
We embarked on an inclusive community engagement journey last month and our goal is to connect with future park users of all ages and abilities.

Reflecting on the collective achievements, I am confident that the seeds we've planted will blossom into even greater successes in the coming year. Let's continue to dream big, care for each other, and make a positive impact together.
Wishing you all a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year! 🎉🌟
