"Weaving Paths” serves as a collection of personal and/or local stories about open streets. Starting with 34th Avenue in Jackson Heights, the series invites you to hear from a range of rich perspectives and experiences from the young boy who enjoys a regular game of soccer on the street with his dad to those who work tirelessly to organize and program the street daily. We are reminded that our access to public spaces matter and when we reimagine our streets as places, they can become a stage for neighborly connections, multigenerational play, learning, health and wellness, relaxing, reading, entrepreneurial exchanges, and pure joy.
QR codes located throughout the street invite passersby to scan and listen to recent excerpts collected by our team as well as past recordings from 34th Ave Oral History and Transportation Alternatives.
