Since 1981, Riverfront Recapture has been working to transform 60+ acres of inaccessible riverfront land into a new community park, including a regional trail extension, and complementary commercial development on the Hartford-Windsor line.
Hive Public Space joined Hargreaves Jones in shaping a Future Park Vision rooted in community voices. We met people where they are—across multiple locations in the Hartford–Windsor area—and led interactive workshops to gather theme-based ideas, share design updates, and co-create the park’s evolving identity.
To celebrate this collective vision, we organized a community event on-site that welcomed future park users to experience the transformation in action—bringing several of their ideas to life and offering a glimpse into what’s to come.

Community Celebration
This event was FREE and open to all, giving us the perfect opportunity to unveil the Future Park Vision and show how their input helped shape this vibrant new space.
To help everyone experience the scale of the site, we hosted bus tours, highlighting key areas of the future park and bringing the vision to life!
From chess lessons to hula hoops, kite flying, and “Fun Run” races, there was something for all ages and abilities.
