A Community-Inspired Mural Series
Hive engaged residents and leadership from the Queensbridge and Ravenswood NYCHA communities to gather ideas that would inspire the mural series Rising to New Heights, installed along the wall surrounding the Ravenswood Generating Station. Hive managed an open call and implementation process to select a local illustrator, Teresa Yang, to bring the community’s collective hopes and aspirations for a sustainable future to life.
Through pop-up outreach at Safe Summer 2021 events, we gathered hundreds of ideas from neighbors and employees alike—each one reflecting hopes for a greener, more connected future. These visions are the foundation of the mural series, celebrating community resilience, sustainability, and the power of collective imagination.

Sunflower Mills depicts the positive impact of clean energy generation on our community and our planet.
