The Richmond Hill community is one of many in NYC that has long been disconnected by a lack of adequate public transportation and underserved in so many ways. Our collective goal is to begin a shift in focus and resources to communities that are long-deserving of this type of attention and investment.
Our temporary multi-use installation provides a vibrant stage for events, classes, and gatherings celebrating the vibrant Punjabi and Indo-Caribbean communities.
This installation aims to activate the space, showcase local culture, engage residents, and promote long-term preservation of cultural identity in public spaces. Colors are inspired by the homeland flags of the community, and the structure was painted by neighbors during three lively painting parties.

The Richmond Hill Arts Festival
The Richmond Hill Arts Festival brought neighbors together for a joyful celebration of culture, creativity, and community at Lt. Frank McConnell Park. The event marked a major milestone in over a year and a half of community organizing and engagement.
The day began with the debut of Flood Sensor Aunty - A powerful performance that spotlighted the impacts of climate change and the vital role of community connection in building resilience. We hosted a community toy swap and inaugurated the new “Little Library” book exchange hub.
As always, snacks and refreshments—samosas, doubles, and chai—were provided.
