In collaboration with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) and Riverdale Avenue Community School (RACS), Hive Public Space is leading a participatory design and engagement process to co-create and install fence art along Strauss Street Play Street, which runs adjacent to RACS.

In Spring 2025, Hive invited the wider community to take part in ideation and design sessions, shaping a vision for the Play Street as an inclusive, welcoming space for all.

Since 2024, Street Lab has been activating the Play Street on Friday afternoons after school, showcasing a variety of uses and activities. The long-term goal is for RACS to take the lead in programming the open street—either independently or with Street Lab in a more supportive, hands-off role.
