Brownsville Placemaking Curriculum
Brownsville, BK | Summer 2024
Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
The Brownsville Wellness Market was a three-part night market series designed to uplift local entrepreneurship, promote wellness, and celebrate community creativity. Each event created new opportunities for local vendors to showcase their products and services, while Table Talk — a custom-designed seating installation — offered a welcoming and flexible gathering space for neighbors to connect.
The series featured free, all-ages programming centered on health and well-being, including recreational cycling, healthy cooking demonstrations, yoga, sound meditation, and high-intensity fitness classes.
A mobile cart and modular seating structure anchored each event, extending the hours of activation and transforming Zion Triangle into a vibrant evening destination.
On market days, Zion Triangle came alive — supporting over 20 local entrepreneurs, drawing in new visitors, and shining a spotlight on neighborhood creatives. The accompanying art installation offered a space to relax, recharge, and engage with the unique energy of the Pitkin Avenue Corridor.
