Broadway Junction is one of Brooklyn’s major transit centers, sitting at the intersection of five subway lines, six bus routes, and the Long Island Rail Road. It is also the meeting point of six largely residential neighborhoods: Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brownsville, Bushwick, Cypress Hills, East New York, and Ocean Hill.
This Project will transform the public realm around the Broadway Junction Station to create an attractive and welcoming gateway for the community, including commuters, workers, residents, and visitors. As an extension of the Callahan-Kelly Playground, the plaza will continue to shape an identity for the neighborhood, reimagine a busy intersection, and facilitate transit-oriented development to bring jobs, housing, and services to the area.
